I started to read, I started to write and journal, I said yes to every opportunity because I was bored. Sometimes I would just drive or walk to new places, try new foods, new smells, new workouts, new places. When a dog’s kidneys do not function as they should, they will have problems filtering and storing urine.
I’m 2 years sober and I wanted to share my thoughts and experiences with boredom and drinking. If you notice that your dog is drinking a lot of water and urinating frequently, it is advisable to go to the vet to rule out underlying diseases. They will perform the necessary tests to determine the cause and prescribe the appropriate treatment. An early diagnosis of kidney disease can prolong your dog’s life and improve their well-being, so it is important never to ignore these issues. We will look at some of the physiological and even psychological reasons why a dog is drinking a lot of water at night, but it is important to consider any environmental influences. When temperatures rise, a dog needs to drink more water to stay hydrated and regulate body temperature.
In active addiction, drug and alcohol use becomes the focus of everything you do, so when those activities suddenly cease, it can leave a feeling of emptiness and boredom. It’s important to remember that boredom is a normal part of recovery, and with the right coping strategies in place, you can get through it without resorting to drinking or using drugs. Boredom may cause unsatisfactory feelings of anxiety and stuttering.

The main difference between these types of discussions is that without-prejudice discussions are only protected when there is an existing dispute, such as a grievance. Partner and head of our employment and HR team, Fabio Grech gives some useful guidance on conducting protected discussions with a view to reaching an amicable parting of the ways when the employment has run its course.
The thing is, this even seems to be the case for a lot of people who have busy lifestyles. So people who work hard all week, then by the time the weekend comes they can’t wait to go for a drink. So it doesn’t just seem to be the people who aren’t doing much that this affects. Finding interesting articles and talking to my coworkers about them, or finding funny videos to share was fun. My biggest worry when quitting would be the boredom, the everyday type of boredom.
They may worry that without drugs or alcohol to keep them entertained; they will have nothing to fill their free time. However, finding constructive and fun activities in sobriety is essential for maintaining long-term recovery. Like many of you I started drinking too young, going to parties and drinking with friends, and I continued drinking into my 20’s slowly building the bad habit. From drinking on the weekends with buds, to drinking on thirsty Thursday and taco Tuesday, to having a few beers after work everyday to wind down and enjoy my time.
A few studies have examined the relationship between boredom proneness and patterns of alcohol use and the mediating role of drinking expectancies (Cooper et al., 1995, Goldstein et al., 2009, Magid et al., 2007). However, these studies mainly focus on young adults rather than adolescents. Lammers et al. (2013) investigated early adolescence and found that drinking expectancies partly mediate the relationship between personality profiles and alcohol use patterns. In particular, the effects of impulsivity and sensation seeking on alcohol use were seen to be mediated by drinking expectancies. In circumstances where a protected conversation is deployed, there will have been no real pre-existing dispute.
When combined with counseling, this approach is proven highly effective. It’s an easy way to get some fresh air and enjoy yourself without the temptation of drugs or alcohol. By making these changes, you can increase your enjoyment of life and break away from boredom. This could include changing your daily routine, developing new hobbies, or getting involved with sober activities.
Furthermore, no differences were seen in regard to boredom and drinking expectancies. Although several studies have shown disparities in scores on drinking out of boredom boredom (e.g. Seib and Vodanovich, 1998, Vodanovich and Kass, 1990), in accordance with Melton and Schulenberg (2009) we found no gender differences in our sample. Firstly, our findings reveal that binge drinking is a very common behavior in Italian adolescents, in particular among males.
If your employer has invited you to a protected conversation, they may have referred to Section 111A of the Employment Rights Act 1996. This legal provision states that evidence of pre-termination negotiations—such as offers or discussions about ending your employment through a settlement agreement—cannot be used in an unfair dismissal claim. Essentially, it allows you and your employer to negotiate openly and confidently without the risk that these conversations will be presented in an employment tribunal. Secondly, as far as gender differences are concerned, our data confirm the literature (e.g., Wilsnack et al., 2009) suggesting that boys are more frequently affected by alcohol abuse and binge drinking behaviors than girls. Moreover, boys are more often involved in risk behaviors, such as drink driving. Otherwise, no significant gender differences were found as regards drinking on an empty stomach, a form of behavior also practiced by females.
